VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Ella Roaldson’s two run double with two out in the seventh highlighted a three run rally for Jamestown as the Blue Jays downed Valley City 6-4 in game one of the doubleheader. The Blue Jays offense picked up in in the second game when they left off in the first game with a 19-3 win in four innings.
Jamestown had 25 runs and 25 hits in the two games. Seven starter has hits in game one all nine starters reached base with seven getting hits in game two.
Jamestown has won four in a row and are 7-3 on the season. Valley City has dropped three straight after winning their first three games of the year.
Valley City will travel to Fargo to face Davies for an Eastern Dakota Conference matchup with the Eagles on Tuesday. Jamestown will get back into Western Dakota Conference play Tuesday when they travel to Bismarck for a doubleheader with Legacy.
GAME 1: Jamestown 6, Valley City 4
After Hailey Schaefer struck out the first two batters in the top of the seventh inning, Jamestown would get five straight hits to score three runs to take the lead.
The big blow came of the bat of Ella Roaldson who double off the left center field fence to score Marin Rasmussen and Alyssa Gange who singled. Jenna Fischer singled to right to bring Roaldson to make it 6-4.
Valley took the lead 4-3 with two runs in the bottom of the sixth on Emma Mielke’s single and Autumn McGough’s sacrfice fly.
The Hi-Liners scored first on a error when Erika Anderson stole third then came in when the throw went into left field.
Jamestown took a 2-1 lead with a two out rally in the fourth. Katie Falk singled to right to score Ella Roaldson then Ella Falk brought in her sister with a base hit one pitch later.
Valley City would tie it at two on Erika Anderson’s sacrfice fly to score courtesy runner Steph Hoffarth. She was running for Emma Langemo who started the inning with a double then went to third on McGough’s single.
The Jamestown would take a 3-2 lead on Katie Falk’s rbi double in the top of the sixth. She scored Ella Roaldson who lead off the inning with a single.
Katie Falk got the win in the circle. She went seven innings and scattered nine hits. She allowed four runs, two earned with a walk and eight strike outs.
Hailey Schaefer took the loss. She allowed 12 hits in seven innings. All six runs were earned. She did not walk a batter and struck out 10.
Roaldson was 3 for 4 with three runs and two rbi for Jamestown. Katie Falk was 3 for 4 with a run and two rbi. Alyssa Gange was 2 for 4 with a run. Jenna Fischer and Ella Falk each had a hit and an rbi.
Erika Anderson was 2 for 4 for Valley City. She scored a run and drove in a run. Dylann Diegel was 2 for 4. Hailey Schaefer, Emma Mielke, Hailey Thoreson, Emma Langemo and Autumn McGough all had one hit. McGough had an rbi.
Game 2 Jamestown 19, Valley City 3 F/4
The Blue Jays picked up where they left off on the second game. They would score six runs in the first. All before an out was recorded.
The big hit came off the bat of Katie Falk who hit a two-run home run. Jenna Fischer came in on the homer, she had drove in two with a single. Ella Falk’s rbi single ended the scoring in the first.
The Jays would add four more in the second all with two out. Ella Falk had a two-run single and Gracie Gunderson had a two run double.
Six more runs in the third for Jamestown. Alyssa Gange hit a sacrifice fly to score Marin Rasmussen who started the inning with a triple. After a run scored on a wild pitch and one on the front end of a double steal, Gunderson capped the scoring with a two run single.
Jenna Fischer led off the fourth with a home run. Gunderson drove in a run with a single and Rylee Joseph brought in a run with a bases loaded walk.
The Hi-Liners scored two in the third on a rbi single by Hailey Schaefer and a rbi ground out by Dylann Diegel. Emma Langemo’s run scoring single in the bottom of the fourth brought in the final run of the game which was called.
Ella Falk was 3 for 3 for the Jays. She scored twice and drove in three. Jenna Fischer was 3 for 4 with three runs scored and three rbi. Gracie Gunderson was 3 for 4 with a run and five rbi. Ella Roaldson was 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Marin Rasmussen was 1 for 2 with two runs scored. Alyssa Gange drove in two runs. Katie Falk was 1 for 1 with two walks and was hit by a pitch and she scored four times and drove in two. Payton Gall walked four times and scored four times. Rylee Joseph wald twice and had an rbi.
Emma Mielke led the Hi-Liners by going 2 for 2 with a run. Emma Langemo, Erika Anderson and Hailey Schaefer each had a hit. Langemo and Schaefer each had an rbi as did Dylan Diegel.
