JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jay softball team stayed hot on Saturday afternoon as they won 19-3 and 16-2 over Watford City in WDA action.
Jamestown moved its overall record to 8-3 on the year and 7-1 in the conference standings. Sophomore Katie Falk and senior Payton Gall each earned wins for the Jays in the circle in the doubleheader.
Jamestown struck early in the first inning of game two and the bats of Jenna Fischer and Ella Falk contributed in a big way. Fischer brought in four runs and went 4-for-4 in the second game against Watford City. E. Falk drove in four runs as well with a 3-for-3 performance, finishing just a home run shy of the cycle.
The Blue Jays put up three runs in the first before scoring five runs in the second inning and tacking on seven more in the third. Jamestown has now won four consecutive games all by mercy rule. The Jays finished with 10 total hits and 11 walks during the second game.
Jamestown is currently in second place in the WDA, sitting behind Dickinson who is in first at 4-0. The Jays went 5-1 over the course of the last three days and will play once again on Monday when they travel to Valley City to take on the Hi-Liners. First pitch from Valley City is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
