VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Sheyenne River in Valley City is nearly at historic low levels, at least for this time of the year.

Due to dry conditions in the state, inflows coming into Lake Ashtabula are trickling in this spring.

Baldhill Dam Resource Manager Rich Schueneman talked about the latest drought monitor forecast for the Sheyenne River in this report. He said outflows out of Baldhill Dam have been less than 15 cubic feet per second for more than a month.

Schueneman predicts that the Lake Ashtabula pool level of 1266 feet more than likely won’t be reached until late May or early June this year.
