JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Public Works Committee discussed 12th Avenue SE improvements from the City’s STIP List and funding through NDDOT to be constructed in 2022.
City Engineer Travis Dillman reports last month they were surprised when they were awarded funds for the mill and overlay project on Highway 20.
Dillman says the proposal is about a $1.4 million project with 81% being covered by the North Dakota Department of Transportation and the rest covered in city-share. Dillman says they might be able to use COVID-19 funding the city received to cover their portion of roughly $260,000.
Councilmember Dave Steele stated that as it stands, the current avenue setup is not satisfactory.
Dillman says the design is included in the cost, saying there’s already been discussions on what can be done for the avenue.
Dillman says there will be a lot of “process” to get to the construction point, adding that’s why they were bringing up the need for an RFP to begin the next step of collecting proposals.
The committee unanimously approved.
Dillman later gave a brief update on the ongoing Road Diet construction on Main Street. The most noticeable change right now is the absence of the traffic lights, which have all been removed except the 3rd Street intersection.
