FREDONIA, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Logan County Sheriff Andrew Bartholomaus says a surprise fundraiser will allow his department to outfit their deputies with new vests.
Earlier this week, the Fredonia Home Plate Café held a fundraiser to get the Department the “best body armor available” to protect them while on duty.
“It started when Lucy [Bauer] at the café was asking one of my deputies about his vest,” Sheriff Bartholomaus stated. “Then it kind of went on from there. This was very unexpected to us, but is greatly appreciated.”
The fundraiser was successful, with Sheriff Bartholomaus adding that they are humbled and should be able to buy what they need with the proceeds of the fundraiser.
“It’s an amazing feeling as a Law Enforcement Officer to have such support and appreciation from the community that you serve,” he added. “The money raised will be going towards new armor plates for our vest and if there is money left over it will be going towards other protective equipment for our Department. It is an honor to be able to serve all the residents of Logan County.”
In a Facebook post, the café thanked those who supported the fundraiser on April 18th.
