JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown and Stutsman County Commission have both approved their share of JSDC funding for the next planning stages of the Buffalo City Park.
Last week, the Jamestown Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) met in a special meeting to approve $600,000 for the “pathway to success” for the Buffalo City Park project. The cost would be on an 80/20 split between the city and county.
On Monday, the city unanimously approved their portion of $480,000. Mayor Dwaine Heinrich said this funding was for the next steps of the project.
On Tuesday, the Stutsman County Commission heard from JSDC CEO Connie Ova. She told them this would be used to create a plan for $60 million in funding from the State Investment Board to construct the 39-acre theme park.
Ova says Apogee Attractions, LLC will use the funds to develop a preliminary estimate to build the project, undertake value engineering to unify the estimate and concept, adjust and update the master plan, provide civil engineering, develop the project program, and complete the schematic design for the project.
Ova added they hope to have the proposal be ready in fourth months, which will coincide with HB 1425, becoming state law on August 1st.
The commission unanimously approved their share of $120,000 for the next planning steps of the Buffalo City Park.
