Named after the journalist of the same name, the North Dakota-born and University of Minnesota-educated journalist is best known for his work as a correspondent for CBS Radio and Television. The awards are presented each spring and honor the best work done by student and professional journalists working for broadcast news operations in small, medium and large markets in a six-state region on radio, television and online.
“I’m honored to have been recognized by the Midwest Broadcast Journalist Association for this award,” News Director Warren Abrahamson stated. “We work diligently to provide quality and up-to-date information on matters in our community and region. This recognition shows we’re making an impact with our reporting.”
The Eric Sevareid Awards are usually announced each year at a banquet and awards ceremony during the Midwest Journalism Conference. In 2021, due to the conference being held virtually, the winners were announced category by category on our Facebook page as the conference sessions were held.
