JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown softball won its eighth and ninth games in a row this weekend as the Jimmies toppled Briar Cliff 6-0 and 6-2 on Saturday.
Junior Kat Miska commanded the circle in game one for Jamestown as she went into the seventh inning with a perfect game. The right-hander put down the first 19 Charger hitters she faced while striking out 11 and allowing just one hit. Miska improved to 12-1 on the year on the mound.
The Jimmies scored two runs in each of the first two innings of game one at Trapper Field and Sydney Prussia tacked on two more runs in the fifth on a home run, her second of the year. Briar Cliff committed four errors in game one against Jamestown.
Game two started with the Chargers out in front 1-0 but that didn’t last long as Jamestown scored its six runs over the span of innings two through four to jump in front for good. Four Jimmies recorded extra-base hits in game two, including Morgan Geiszler who had a triple. Sophomore Katie Merchant went all seven innings on the mound for the Jimmies, improving to 10-3 and striking out five.
The Jimmies will continue conference play on Friday when they host Concordia for a doubleheader beginning at 3 pm. Jamestown now has a 25-7 overall record and is 8-2 to start the conference season.
