JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown baseball team dominated Dakota Wesleyan on both Saturday and Sunday and capped off the weekend with an 8-0 win at Jack Brown Stadium.
Kendall Yackley pitched the best game of the weekend for the Jimmies, going seven innings and striking out eight Tiger batters. Yackley improved to 3-0 on the year and threw 101 total pitches while allowing just five hits.
Luke Shekeryk got Jamestown going in the first inning with a two-run blast over the left field wall to put the Jimmies ahead 3-0. Shekeryk finished the day 3-for-4 with three runs driven in and a run scored. Lincoln Trujillo also hit a two-run homer over the left-field wall as well for his fifth home run of the year.
Jamestown tallied 13 total hits on the afternoon in game two of the doubleheader. Chase Hacker went 2-for-2 off the bench and nine total Jimmies recorded a hit in game two.
On Saturday, Jamestown won 10-5 and 12-6 to open up the four-game series. Dru Fitz earned the win in game one for the Jimmies, and Andy Reed got the victory in game two. UJ defeated the Tigers 6-2 to open up the doubleheader on Sunday.
Jamestown is now 25-12 on the year and 11-5 in the GPAC. The Jimmies travel to Dickinson State on Wednesday for a nine-inning game before returning to Jack Brown Stadium next weekend for a four-game series against Mount Marty.
