CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Cardinals High School Varsity Baseball team opened up their 2021 regular season schedule at home on Monday hosting a baseball triangular with Harvey/Wells County and MayPort/CG. The Cardinals dropped their first game 11-2 against MayPort/CG and won their second game 10-8 over Harvey/Wells County. MayPort/CG beat HWC 13-5 in the second game of the day.
The Cardinals were up 6-0 at the end of four innings against HWC, the Hornets had a huge top of the fifth scoring seven runs to take a 7-6 lead, and they added another run in the sixth. The Cardinals came back and scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead for good 10-8. The Cardinals hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth, a 2-run shot from Senior Ethan Buskness and a solo shot from Sophomore Hudson Schmitz. .
Next up for Carrington will be a Region 3 contest on Friday against Sheyenne/New Rockford in New Rockford, KDAK will have the pregame about 3:50pm.
