JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The World’s Largest Buffalo will be migrating into downtown Jamestown this summer.

Proposed by Jamestown Tourism, Dakota Thunder will be lifted with cranes from it’s former home and cemented to the Jamestown Arts Park.

“We really think having the buffalo in downtown Jamestown will be a way to drive more traffic downtown,” Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund stated. “We think this partnership with the Jamestown Arts Center will help bring some bison life to the downtown area.”

Arts Center Executive Director Mindi Schmitz says moving the buffalo just makes sense.

“Really, having the buffalo downtown next to our Prairie Grass Ballet sculpture… It’s just meant to be,” Schmitz added. “Truly a match made in heaven. Large grass for our large buffalo.”

Jamestown Chamber Executive Director Emily Bivens thinks there’s a chance the downtown buffalo could generate more traffic for downtown businesses.

“I can see all the downtown bars, restaurants, and businesses adapting to embrace the buffalo as their mascot,” Bivens stated. “The Buffalo Bar, Dakota Thunder Coffee, Buffalo Herd Pizza. We can really take on the Buffalo City nickname!”

Crews hope to begin the process today, of course that being April Fools’ Day.
