Progress is being made on the stadium. Update as of 3/25/21

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The fundraising for the shared football and track stadium between the University of Jamestown and Jamestown Public Schools is nearing the finish line according to Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech.

“The Jamestown School District and University of Jamestown have collaborated on many projects over the years, but the recent project to bring the Blue Jays and Jimmies together to share facilities has brought a wave of excitement to Jamestown,” Dr. Lech stated in a recent post.

The $11.5 million project includes a turf football field, 9-lane track and throw area, updated press boxes, and other improvements.

“Just as importantly, it provides a turf practice field at Jamestown High School that can be used for physical education, co-curriculars, and activities, such as football, soccer, softball, and baseball,” Dr. Lech added. “These projects are on schedule to be finished by August 2021.”

Previously, the Jamestown Public School District committed $2 million to the project as both JPS and UJ have continued to fundraise additional dollars.

Dr. Lech says private donations and business community have helped them raise another $9 million for the project.

“We are nearly at the finish line and want to provide our patrons an opportunity to help us finish this amazing collaborative project,” Dr. Lech pointed out.
