MADISON, SD. (NewsDakota.com) – The #1 ranked University of Jamestown Jimmies women’s volleyball team had to battle in sets one and three but eventually swept the Trojans of Dakota State in straight sets Wednesday night.
Jamestown moved its record to 23-1 overall on the season behind 10 kills from Taylor Sabinash to lead the Jimmies. UJ didn’t have a great game in terms of attacking, hitting at just .171 as a team, but they held the Trojans to just .048 on the night.
Junior Anna Holen of Jamestown had a great night as she finished with 23 digs and five kills as well as two service aces. Two other Jimmies, Hannah Schiele and Sydney Ellingson had double digit digs on the evening to propel Jamestown to victory. Megan Gaffaney led UJ in assists with 19.
The Jimmies have the next seven days off before the return to the court next Thursday evening to take on Mayville State. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm and you can hear the full action on Jamestown 107.1.
The #1 Jamestown Jimmies are getting closer to the postseason tournament in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The GPAC women’s volleyball tournament starts on April 3rd and runs through the 10th.
