JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A document created every year providing a summary of the past year for the Jamestown Public School District was presented to the Jamestown Public School Board Monday night.

Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech provided his Superintendent’s Annual Report for 2019-2020, which he states presented a set of challenges that “nobody could have reasonably foreseen.”

The report covers a variety of topics in the school district from staff to average daily membership.

The cumulative report can be found here.

Later, Dr. Lech stated it was determined to continue with Instructional Plan #1 based on the current impact of COVID-19 at the school and district levels.

He says they’ll only meet if a member of the committee wants to meet to discuss any potential changes before making a recommendation to the full School Board.

Dr. Lech later discussed the Capital Projects Planning (CPP), hoping to focus ESSER dollars in appropriate amounts to different projects and plotting out the needs of the district over the next 10 years.

20% of ESSER funds will need to be dedicated to “learning loss”, 10% would need to go towards educational innovations and that would leave around 70% for allocation to facility improvements.

Dr. Lech recommended the board send the plans to another committee that will look over the CPP and add another perspective to the board.

The CPP would have specific items including scheduled maintenance, 3-year asbestos review, regular updates to carpet and paint, equipment needs, and other unforeseen expenses that might arise.
