JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James River Humane Society will be holding their annual meeting open to the public on Monday, March 15th.

Board member Jay Nitschke says they will hold discussion on various topics relating to the Humane Society that the public is welcome to listen in on.

The meeting will be at 6 PM in the Hillcrest School gymnasium. Social distancing and masks are encouraged.

Nitschke added that improvements continue to progress at the shelter.

Donations have also continued to come in for the shelter, but they’re reminding the public that they cannot accept blankets or towels at this time. They cannot accept any open bagged cat or dog food either.

“We are still accepting any bagged cat food as long as it has not been opened, canned cat or dog food, any cleaning supplies or paper products, cat and dog toys, and treats as long as they have not been opened,” the shelter says.

Monetary donations are also encouraged.

Nitschke says they’re also continuing to find dogs and cats homes, but are keeping their doors closed for the safety of their staff and animals.
