New Rockford, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–Top ranked Four Winds-Minnewaukan (FWM)jumped out to a 22-7 first quarter lead and rolled to a 73-32 victory over New Rockford-Sheyenne (NRS) and captured the District 7 title. Benson County and Harvey-Wells County won the region 4 qualifiers earlier.

JaeShaun Shaw had a game high 17 points, one of four players scoring in double figures for the Indians. Jayden Yankton (16), Jonah Jackson (12), and Bronson Walter (11) added to the FWM victory. Walter (6’10 senior) added a game high 17 rebounds. FWM never trailed and cruised to a 41-18 halftime lead and had a running clock in the fourth quarter leading 61-29 after three quarters. The Indians forced the Rockets into 28 turnovers.
The Rockets were paced by Johnny Grann with 13 points and Nick Berglund with 12 points. NRS (14-7) will host Northstar next Monday night in the opening round of the Region 4 tournament. The Rockets game will be aired on AM 1600 KDAK (THE CARDINAL), FM 100.1, and www.newsdakota.com FWM (20-1) will host Rolette next Monday as well.

Harvey-Wells County (HWC) Hornets 66 Lakota Raiders 46
Tate Grossman and Tyson Tipton scored 15 points each to the lead the Hornets past Lakota and advance to the Region 4 tournament. Alex Erickson added 14 points as the Hornets improved to 10-12 on the season. Lakota was paced by Brandt Ferguson with 15 points and Ross Thompson added 8 points. The Raiders season ended at 3-17 overall.

Benson County (BC) Wildcats 60 Dakota Prairie (DP) Knights 49
Blayne Anderson had a game high 23 points and the Wildcats made 24 of 27 free throws (89 percent) in the game including 13 of 14 in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Cole Wentz 12 for from the charity stripe (including 10 of 10 in the final quarter) and finished with 18 points. John Fischer added 14 points aiding the Wildcats victory. BC improved to 11-10 and will advance to the Region 4 tournament.
DP was paced by Cade Stein with 21 points and Garrett Syverson added 15 points. The Knights finished the season 10-11 overall.
