JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The city of Jamestown will be addressing their local emergency measures and whether or not to continue them or allow them to expire moving forward.

According to the agenda for the Monday, March 1st meeting, the city will consider approving an emergency measure for a temporary moratorium on the enforcement of sale and possession of alcohol, indoor and outdoor gatherings of 50 or more, and face coverings for all public-facing retail and service employees.

This includes the emergency measure of requiring face coverings for every person within the city for all indoor and outdoor environments where a person is exposed to non-household members and where physical distancing of six feet or greater cannot be assured.

Measures were put in place at the end of October 2020 to curb the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the city. Earlier this month, Mayor Dwaine Heinrich and the city council stated they would continue the mandates in an effort to combat the coronavirus.

The statewide mask requirement imposed by Governor Doug Burgum expired on January 18th, but cities statewide have maintained local emergency measures and mask mandates as the pandemic continues.
