JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jays gymnastics team will host the state tournament this Friday and Saturday.
The Jays have had one of the most successful campaigns in recent memory, taking first in four of their seven meets this year, and finishing second in every meet they did not win. Jamestown has topped top-ranked Dickinson once this season, back on January 21st in Mandan. Julia Skari took home the all-around win on that night, scoring a 36.400.
The individual championships will take place on Friday at 4 pm, and the duals begin Saturday at 1 pm. The Blue Jays took second in the WDA tournament this past weekend in Dickinson, with the Midgets outlasting the Jays 145.500 to 144.125.
Jamestown took second place in the state championships last year, and the Jays are looking to dethrone Dickinson as they try to win the state title once again. Hayley Nelson of Jamestown and Amy Fridley of Dickinson have gone back and forth all season long, and will most likely battle it out to take home the individual state title.
Full updates from the state meet will be available right here on newsdakota.com, as well as a full recap on Monday on Jamestown 107.1.
