JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown men’s and women’s teams both traveled to Mitchell South Dakota on Saturday afternoon as they split the doubleheader against the Tigers.
WOMEN’S: UJ 75, Dakota Wesleyan 69
The Jimmies used major production from Kia Tower and Emma Stoehr, as well as Macy Savela off the bench, to take down the Tigers.
Tower played a team-high 37 minutes, scoring 23 points on 9-18 shooting for the day. Stoehr had great success at the free-throw line, with 14 points on 7-10 from the line. Savela was on fire from downtown once again, scoring 16 points off of 5-7 shooting on the afternoon.
The Jimmies end the regular season with a 15-10 overall record, 12-10 in the conference. Jamestown will travel to #7 Morningside on Wednesday at 6:00 pm to open up the GPAC tournament.
MEN’S: Dakota Wesleyan 77, UJ 70
The Jamestown men’s basketball team was unable to shoot at a high percentage as the Tigers locked in on defense to take down the Jimmies.
Jamestown was led in scoring by Mason Walters who finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Jack Talley scored in double figures as well, hitting on 3-7 from three-point range and scoring 11. Brock Schrom and Marc Kjos were the third and fourth players to finish in double digits for Jamestown, Kjos had 13 and Schrom with 10. Schrom and Kjos also collected nine rebounds apiece.
The Jimmies finish the regular season with an 18-7 overall record, 14-6 inside of the GPAC. Jamestown will play in the conference tournament on Wednesday at home against Concordia at 7:00 pm.
