JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown wrestling team placed in state for the second year in a row as the Blue Jays finish in third with a victory over Bismarck Century to end the day.

Jamestown started the day by taking down Devils Lake in the opening round of the dual meet 61-18. In match two, Jamestown fell 54-15 to the eventual champions Bismarck High, before taking down Century to end the day.

The Blue Jays were led at 160 by Colton Mewes who finished the day at a perfect 3-0, defeating the individual state champ  Kaden Renner of Bismarck 5-1 via decision. Damien Krebs also had a perfect 3-0 day at 285 after defeating Jacob Burckhard of Century 3-2 by decision to end the day.

At 220, Jamestown’s Autin Kessler ended his day at 3-0 as well, winning by pinfall over Hunter Harvey of Century. All three of Kesslers’ victories on Saturday came via pinfall.

Jamestown finished yesterday in fourth place following the end of the individual meets. Two Blue Jays finished second at 120 and 126 with Grady Anderson and Aden Braun competing in championship matches. Jamestown also had three wrestlers end the individual championships in third in Krebs, Mewes, and Joel Bowman.
