JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown will be offering students and members of the public the opportunity to not only learn a new, foreign language, but also travel aboard and use their newly acquired linguistic skills.

Andrew Lefter, Associate Professor of Foreign Language at the University, says he is excited to teach his native language this summer when they offer an 8-week Romanian language course.

Lefter says the virtual course will begin in May. He added that there are two countries where Romanian is the primary language.

Lefter estimates there are upwards of 25 million native Romanian language users.

In 2022, Lefter says they’ll make a trip to Cuba after offering a course in the Fall of 2021. In 2019, Lefter and Assistant Professor of Nursing Penny Briese led a trip to the country to journal experiences and visit with locals and institutions.

For more information on the Romanian course or the 2022 Cuba trip, contact Professor Alexandru Lefter at Alexandru.Lefter@uj.edu or visit uj.edu.
