JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Tourism Grant/Executive Board approved a grant request to the Jamestown Arts Center for their planned Chalkfest event.
Executive Director Mindi Schmitz says they would focus on bringing in nationally known chalk artists for the event in June.
The Arts Center would partner with Ave Maria Village and Anne Carlsen Center. The requested amount of $10,000 would be used to help pay for the artists. The Arts Center earlier this year received some Main Street Initiative Vibrancy Grant funding to help pay for the event.
Schmitz says the artists participating are well-known for what they do.
Roughly 8 to 10 artists would be in Jamestown for the event June 24th through the 26th.
The grant board approved the full amount requested for the event and to engage the downtown community.
