JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – While the James River Humane Society has been closed to the public, adoptions and focus on future projects have kept staff and board members busy.

Board member Jay Nitschke says they recently conducted a walk-through of the shelter to find different projects and things that may need addressed in the future.

Nitschke says they were able to compile list of wants and needs for the shelter.

Operating as a non-profit, Nitschke says they appreciate any and all donations to maintain and operate the shelter. Their current fundraiser is a kuchen fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting the Humane Society.

The shelter has also been appreciative of all pet food donations.

In other Humane Society information Nitschke says they continue to adopt, encouraged pet owners to be mindful of the cold weather, and visit jamesriverhumanesociety.org for more information.
