VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City residents and businesses will continue to experience power outages or a mandatory rolling blackout until further notice.

Governor Burgum said due to the extreme cold weather in the plain states, the state of North Dakota implemented a mandatory rolling blackout on Tuesday.

Each blackout is expected to last between 30 to 45 minutes according to Valley City Electrical Supervisor Marshall Senf.
He said there’s no word yet as to how long these blackouts will continue, but warmer temperatures from North Dakota to Texas in the days ahead should improve the situation.

During these rolling blackouts, the Valley City Public Works Department is also asking residents to limit their water usage during a prolonged blackout period.
