JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown men’s basketball team hit the century mark on senior day as they defeated Midland 100-74 to win their sixth straight game.

Midland got out to an initial lead in the first half of play before Marc Kjos went unconscious from three-point range, hitting 5-of-6 in the first half. Jamestown went into the break with a 10 point lead and put its foot on the gas from that point forward.

Sophomore Mason Walters collected his 19th double-double of the year, scoring 21 points and snagging 15 boards. Kjos finished with 18 points and five assists. Senior Allante’ Pickens also scored in double figures, going 4-7 for 13 points and five assists.

Every senior was able to score for the Jimmies on senior day, including Tanner Slag who knocked down a three to push Jamestown to 100 points on the evening. The Jimmies shot 61% from the field and went 50% from three.

Midland was led in scoring by Jake Reuschhoff who had a game-high 26 points on 10-20 shooting. Bo Sandquist played all forty minutes for the Warriors and had 22.

Jamestown now holds an 18-5 overall record, with a 14-4 conference mark. The Jimmies finish the regular season by going 12-1 at Harold Newman Arena.

WOMEN’S: 

Jamestown fought hard late but was unable to overcome a large halftime deficit as they fell 80-74 to Midland.

Jamestown trailed by 24 points at half after scoring just four total points during the second quarter of play. The Jimmies put lots of pressure on Midland with their defense in the third and fourth to tighten the game.

All in all, UJ was led by Kia Tower who finished with 14 points, including 12 in the second half. Macy Savela and Noelle Josephson both collected 13 points for the Jimmies, and Audrey Rodakowski had 10 and six rebounds.

Jamestown forced 23 Warrior turnovers in the game, with Tower and Josephson each having three steals. Off the bench, Anni Stier had a career-high seven points on 2-4 shooting from three.

The Jimmies women’s team now holds a 14-9 overall record, 11-9 in the GPAC. Jamestown now tied with Midland for 7th place in the conference standings.

The men and women are both in action on Wednesday as they head to Northwestern to take on the Red Raiders. First tip from Orange City is set for 6 pm.
