JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – As vaccinations for adults 75 years and older and those who are high risk continue, Mayor Dwaine Heinrich says they’ll continue to stress wearing a mask to keep COVID-19 numbers down.

During the recent City Council meeting Monday, Mayor Heinrich stated that numbers in Jamestown and Stutsman County were around 15 active cases.

Heinrich says he continues to field calls on the citywide mask mandate, both for and against it.

He pointed out that while the mask mandate will remain in effect, they will monitor numbers and could revoke the mandate “sooner rather than later” pending community response.

Heinrich also took time to thank residents for remaining vigilant during the pandemic.

In other city business, the council approved a resolution authorizing the issuance and sale of $1,344,000 Water Treatment Assessment Warrant, Series 2021 (Project 20-62) for the State Hospital water line project. The Jamestown Chamber of Commerce was also commended for their 90th Annual Virtual Banquet, which was streamed online due to the pandemic.
