JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Rural Fire Department has their sights on returning to the ice in the 13th Annual Fishing Derby February 20th.
Travis Lemieux with the JRFD says being unable to hold the derby in 2020 due to COVID-19, they’re excited to have it return this year.
He added the fishing derby will take place, pending proper ice formation. He pointed out that the JRFD has heavily relied on funds raised in the derby to help the department purchase needed equipment.
Lemieux says the first 50 kids 12 & Under to participate in the fishing derby will also receive a free ice fishing rod.
Registration will start at 9 AM at Pelican Point with the derby to start at 1 PM. Weighing will take place on site and wrap up at 4 PM. Lemieux says they appreciate the continued support from area businesses and participants.
Once the derby is done, he says they will hold their raffle live on Facebook beginning at 8 PM. Cost per raffle ticket is $25 and they are limited.
