Jamestown at #9 Morningside  (Men’s)

A good end to the first half of play on the road at Morningside turned into a big win for the Jimmies as they defeated the Mustangs 76-67.

Senior guard Allante’ Pickens led Jamestown with 21 points. Mason Walters was slowed down in terms of points on Wednesday, held to just nine, however, Walters led all players in rebounds with 21. Jamestown dominated on the glass against the Mustangs, outrebounding Morningside 45-38.

The Jimmies guards provided plenty of points from beyond three-point range, with Marc Kjos and Cole Woodford combining to score 25 points.

Jamestown improves to 15-5 on the year and 11-4 in conference play, taking both games against Morningside this season. The Jimmies still sit in third place in the GPAC but hold the tiebreaker over the Mustangs who are in first at 17-3 (13-3).

Jamestown at #9 Morningside (Women’s)

In women’s action on Wednesday night in Sioux City, the Jimmies fell 99-53 to #9 Morningside in GPAC play.

The Mustangs jumped out to a quick 14 point advantage in the first quarter and kept the pressure throughout the game, thwarting any efforts from the Jimmies to come back.

Kia Tower led the Jimmies with 17 points and four rebounds, as well as two assists. Tower was the only Jamestown player to score in double figures against the Mustangs.

Sophia Peppers of Morningside led all scorers with 25 points, collecting 11 rebounds for a double-double. As a team, the Mustangs shot 54% on the evening.

The Jimmies fell to 13-7 overall on the year and 10-7 in conference play. Morningside’s women’s team improved to 9-4 all-time against Jamestown in women’s basketball.
