JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – It wasn’t always pretty on Monday afternoon at Harold Newman Arena, but the University of Jamestown women’s basketball team picked up its 10th conference win of the year in a 71-55 victory over the College of St. Mary.
Without leading scorer and rebounder Hannah DeMars in the lineup, the Jimmies turned to Kia Tower and Macy Savela for extra production on offense. Tower led all scorers with 20 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Savela was lights out from three-point range, shooting 50% on the day, and wracking up 16 points. Freshman Audrey Rodakowski scored in double figures once again, tallying 11.
The Jimmies turned the ball over 12 times in the first half, but recollected themselves at halftime, turning it over only four times in the entire second half. Jamestown shot 40% from the field for the game, and 73% at the free-throw line. The Jimmies built a lead as big as 19 in the fourth quarter, and never trailed in the game after the first.
With the win, Jamestown improves to 13-6 overall on the season and 10-6 in the GPAC, winning four straight conference games. The Jimmies now make a quick turnaround once again as they head to Morningside to take on the #11 Mustangs at 6:00 pm on Wednesday. The Jimmies men’s team will play following that game at 8:00.
