JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The 24-hour fundraising event Giving Hearts Day makes a return to North Dakota and northwest Minnesota on Thursday, February 11th.

Since the first ever Giving Hearts Day in 2008, donors have given more than $90 million, with 100% raised going directly to participating charities. There are more than 490 different charities and impacts donors will be able to select during the event.

Locally, 16 organizations will participate in Jamestown. One of those non-profits is Ave Maria Village, a long-term care skilled facility.

Development Director Annie Hancock says they’re hoping to raise funds for their ongoing kitchen renovation project.

Another organization participating locally is the Guardian Angels Inc. Margo Haut is a LSW, Director for the non-profit.

Haut says the goal is to be available to individuals 24/7, making it some of the most challenging and rewarding work. She says they were established in 2014 and rely on their volunteers and fundraising to operate.

The Jamestown Arts Center has also participated in Giving Hearts Day for the last several years.

Executive Director Mindi Schmitz says the non-profit relies on membership, event participation, and volunteers to maintain their operations.

Donations will be matched to their certain dollar amount through donations made strictly on Giving Hearts Day February 11th. If you wish to learn more or make a donation, visit givingheartsday.org or contact a local participating non-profit.
