JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission approved a joint powers agreement between the county and city of Jamestown for joint use of shooting ranges.
Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser says their new range near the road department is running currently. He added they currently share the range with numerous other entities at this time.
Sheriff Kaiser says there was land issues that needed to be worked out, which has been taken care of. The joint powers agreement would allow each party to operate any property not owned or operated by either party as a shooting range.
Currently, there is an agreement with the city and LEC on the shooting range near the fairgrounds. Kaiser says there are some limitations at that range.
Funding and cleanup of the ranges would be the responsibility of the city and county.
The commission unanimously approved the agreement.
