WAHPETON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Tyler Tollefson scored nine points in the last eight minutes of the second half and lead Wahpeton to a 78-67 win over Valley City in high school boys basketball Friday night at the Huskie Gym.

After Calahan Burchill tied the game at 52 for Valley City. Tollefson hit a baseline runner with 7:44 to go to give the Huskies a 54-52 lead. But Jared Eggermont would score down low to tie the game back up at 54 with 6:47 remaining.

But Tollefsosn would come back on the next possession and hit a corner three pointer with 6:29 to go to give Wahpeton the lead for good at 57-54. Tollefson would add a couple of easy layups off turnovers late.

Peyton Zaun led Valley City with 25 points. Burchill added 14 points, 11 in the second half when the Hi-Liner trailed by as much as 11. Eggermont only had eight points but grabbed a game high 12 rebounds.

Tollefson led the Husies with 26 points. Munzero Desire added 22 points. Bridger Hansen filled the stat sheet with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and seven steals. Carter Hoerer was also in double figures with 10 for Wahpeton.

Valley City falls to 2-5 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and 2-6 overall. Wahpeton is 5-2 overall and in the conference.
