VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City won 13 of the 14 weight classes Thursday night in its dual with Wahpeton. The Hi-Liners won 11 of those by pins and two by forfeit. Only one match made into the third period as the Hi-Liners stayed unbeaten with a 78-6 win over the visiting Huskies.
Jonah Schuldheisz set the tone right away with a pin of Jackson Burchill 51 seconds into the match at 195. Schuldheisz is number 1 at 195 in the East and in the State. Burchill was third in the region at 195. Schuldheisz would also wrestle Tanner Thiel who is fifth in the state at 195 in an exhibition match at the end of the night and won that by pin as well.
Carson McGough #3 in the state at 220 pinned Logan Gjerdevig, #7 in the state, in 2:41 to put the Hi-Liners up 12-0.
Wahpeton would won its only match at 285 when Josh Krump, who is #2 in the East Region, pinned Devyn Thornton in 3:02 to cut the lead in half at 12-6. That would be it for the Huskies after that,
Koltyn and Koye Grebel each won by forfeit at 106 and 113 respectively to open up the lead to 24-6.
Tucker Johnson, who is ranked #3 in the East Region pinned Colman Barth in 1:36 at 120. Logan Novara pinned Bryce Awender in 2:42 at 126. The Hi-Liners now led 36-6. Alex Rogelstad, who is ranked third at 126 in he region, went up to 132 and pinned Weston Jensen in 59 seconds to make it 42-6 Hi-Liners.
Ethan Miller clinched the dual for the Hi-Liners with a pin Hunter Owens at 138 in 1:03 seconds. Miller was wrestling two classes up from his normal weight class. Miller is 3rd in the state at 126 and Owens is 7th at 138. That made it 48-6 in favor of Valley City.
Isaiah Schuldheisz would face Brady Owens at 145 and win by fall in 3:04. The only match that went into the third period came at 152 when Espen Kunze pinned Kaleb Mostoller in 4:34. That placed the team score at 60-6.
Ezra Hanse pinned Myles Hinkley in 2:50 at 160 to open up a 66-6 lead. Another sub-minute pin came at 170 when Broden Muske, #3 in the state, pinned Nathan Worrel #4 at 160 in the East Region, in 59 seconds to put Valley City up 72-6.
Jonathan Redfearn got the final pin of the night when the 3rd ranked 182 pounder in the state pinned Jordan Miller in 1:23. Final: Valley City 78, Wahpeton 6. It is the third time this season that the Hi-Liners scored over 70 points.
Valley City improved to 6-0 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and 7-0 overall. Wahpeton falls to 1-5 in the EDC and 1-7 overall.
Valley City will next wrestle Fargo Davies Saturday afternoon in Fargo. The Eagles styed unbeaten overall and the EDC with a 46-18 win over West Fargo.

On Tuesday night, Valley City set a team record for points in a dual when they beat Grand Forks Red River 83-0.
Ethan Miller, Isaiah Schuldheisz, Espen Kunze, Jonathan Redfearn and Jonah Schuldheisz all won by pins. Logan Novara defeated Camden Larsen by tech fall, 16-1 which kept the Hi-Liners fro getting a perfect score. The other eight matches were won by forfeit.
In the other match in Grand Forks, the Hi-Liners picked up ten wins versus West Fargo Sheyenne with five pins, two decisions, a tech fall and two forfeits.
Ezra Hanse, Broden Muske, Jonah Schuldheisz, Carson McGough, and Logan Novara all won by pins. Ethan Miller defeated Alexander Spray 10-3, Koye Grebel won by tech fall, 17-1 over Carter Zink who was #1 at 106 and Grebel is #1 at 113. Koltyn Grebel defetaed Morgan Strandberg 10-5.
