PINGREE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) In a tight contest featuring nine ties, the Thunder of Medina/Pingree/Buchanan upset the fourth rated Carrington Cardinals 45-42 Tuesday night. MPB improves to 4-0 overall, Carrington suffers their first loss of the season and is now 6-1.

The Cardinals were down 11-10 at the end of the first quarter and 22-19 at halftime. They took the lead at one point 31-27 in the third quarter but that would be their largest lead of the entire contest. The Thunder hit some key shots in the fourth quarter including a bank 3-pointer by Senior Brittney Reister to help them secure the upset. Leading all scorers was Junior Sydnie Grager with 22, Senior Hannah Hagel added eight. For MPB, they were led by two players in double figures. Ryleigh Martin dropped in 18 and Allison Thomas added 10, Reister ended with seven.

Next up for No. 4 Carrington will be on Friday at No. 2 Kindred, KDAK will have the pregame about 615pm. Next up for MPB will be Thursday in Pingree against Lamoure/LM.
