JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown has reviewed and approved an environmental assessment for Commonwealth Development Corporation’s Eagle Flats project.
The project includes demolition of the former Eagles building and redevelopment of the 0.7-acre parcel with a 4-story multifamily apartment structure. It will consist of a total of 33 units located on floors two through 4. The first floor will be utilized as a covered parking area.
The site is currently developed, but vacant.
The purpose of the project is to provide suitable and affordable housing for low and moderate income families within Jamestown, which has been a top regional need.
City Building Inspector Tom Blackmore submitted a report to the city from Terracon Consultants Inc. on the environmental impact of the project.
The council unanimously approved the assessment to be signed by Mayor Dwaine Heinrich after changes were made.
The city also discussed the parking sublease and agreement with the Posthouse, which is adjacent to the Eagle Flats project. Mayor Heinrich says in the lease agreement, the Posthouse had the option of 34 parking spaces.
Mayor Heinrich says parking spaces not used by the Posthouse will be usable by Eagle Flats residents in a new agreement. The council unanimously approved the agreement.
The project is estimated to cost $8.688 million and be completed by Spring 2022.
