JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In November, Tommy Nienhaus contracted COVID-19 and things took a turn for the worse quickly.

Nienhaus has been hospitalized since November 10th, according to a GoFundMe page set up for Nienhaus and his family.  Beginning at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Nienhaus was transferred to Sanford Health in Fargo.  At one point, Nienhaus was paralyzed for a month.  The recovery from COVID-19 included many hills and valleys for Niehaus.

Nienhaus is the head coach of the University of Jamestown men’s soccer team.  The university and the community has rallied behind Nienhaus and his recovery by raising over $14,000 in donations to the Nienhaus family.

An update posted to the GoFundMe page Wednesday says the Nienhaus was moved from the ICU to the rehabilitation area of the hospital to begin the recovery process.

Those wishing to contribute to the family can do so on the GoFundMe page.
