VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fargo South used a 15-3 run in the second half to turn a two point game into a 14 point game on the way to a 73-63 win over Valley City in high school girls basketball Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.

The game was close for most of the first half. The Bruins had a 14-7 lead thanks to a 12-2 run. But the Hi-Liners would go on a 11-2 run themselves to take a 18-16 lead with 6:25 remaining in the half. But the Bruins get the final bucket in a back and forth final few minutes to lead 29-27 at the break.

Adie Wagner led the Bruins with 10 points in the half. Paige Schroeder added eight. Brooke Eggermont led Valley City at the break with 11 points and six rebounds.

The Bruins would take a 34-29 lead early n the second half then a three pointer by freshman Tesa Olson made with 34-32 South with 15:32 to go in the half. That would be as close as the Hi-Liners would get the rest of the way.

South used a 15-3 run to take a 49-35 lead. The run was capped by a three pointer by Laura Green with 11:05 remaining in the half. Valley City would get the lead down to six on a couple of occasions but were never able to get any closer.

Wagner led the Bruins with 24 points and seven rebounds. Paige Schroeder added 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ann Smith had 10 points. Alice Carlson and Sami Hoselton had four assists each.

Brooke Eggermont led Valley City with 25 point and nine rebounds. Drew Potratz had 12 points and Olson added 10 and six rebounds.  Peyton Pederson had a team high six assists and added six rebounds.

Valley City falls to 1-2 overall and in the Eastern Dakota Conference. They will host Fargo Oak Grove on Monday December 28th in their next game. Fargo South will be at West Fargo Sheyenne on January 2nd. They are now 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the EDC.
