National Sorghum Producers
National Sorghum Producers board director Amy France this week presented views on behalf of the U.S. sorghum industry to the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry regarding Agricultural Research and Securing the U.S. Food Supply. The hearing is expected to be Chairman Pat Roberts’ (R-KS) final before retiring at the end of this Congress.
France’s testimony centered on the need for more research on climate resilient crops like sorghum as producers face volatile weather. It also emphasized how advancements through agriculture research and bleeding-edge technologies push agriculture forward to address challenges in the future, applauding the committee’s establishment of the Agriculture Advanced Research and Development Authority (AGARDA).
