Jeannine Agnes Gienger-Berlin, 91, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Eventide in Fargo, ND.
Jeannine was born May 24, 1929 to Marvin and Rose (Remboldt) Stuhr in Gackle, ND. Jeannine’s mother died at her birth, so she was raised by her father and grandmother Rosalina Remboldt. Jeannine went to New York Hairstyling Academy after high school graduating with her cosmetology license in 1947.
Jeannine married her high school sweetheart, Jacob “Jake” Gienger, October 3, 1947. Jacob attended Valley City Teacher’s College and taught school in a country school by Streeter, ND.
In 1949, Jeannine and Jacob moved to Jamestown, ND where their son James was born. From there they moved to Riverdale, ND and a daughter, Rosemary was added to the family. In 1953, they moved to Garrison, ND where Jeannine worked as a nurse’s aide and daughter Angela was born. After Jake and Jeannine pulled their 8’x38’ trailer through the mountains to California in 1958 their daughter Laure was the next addition to the family. When 1959 came, Jeannine decided that California was not the place to raise a family. So, back to North Dakota! They settled in Cleveland, ND. Then, along came daughter Paula. 1960 took them to Luverne, ND. Jeannine was a homemaker and was involved with the Lutheran Church making quilts, belonging to Circle and Ladies Aid. The Lord was always an important part of her life.
Jacob died in 1985 and Jeannine moved to their lake place in Sibley, ND on Lake Ashtabula. She met and married Keith Berlin July 1, 1990 at Sibley. A few years later they moved to Valley City, ND where they lived until 2014. In 2014 they moved to an apartment in Fargo, ND. Keith’s passing was in 2017 and soon after Jeannine moved into Eventide Fargo. She lived there until the time of her death. Jeannine was known as a spunky woman who loved deeply and was a good friend to many.
Jeannine loved quilting, dancing, fishing playing BINGO, spending time with her grandchildren, but most of all singing. She would sing wherever and whenever she could!
Jeannine is survived by her children, James (Deby Brown), West Fargo, ND, Rosemary (Wayne Fuller –deceased in 2020), Littleton, CO, Angela (Theron Hylla), Moorhead, MN, Laure (Randy Huschka), Hope, ND, Paula (John DeRouin) Dover, MN.
