CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Carrington Public School District Superintendent Kris Kuehn says when it comes to COVID-19 spread, the schools continue to remain safe.

Following Governor Doug Burgum’s mask mandate through December 14th, Kuehn says this is an opportunity for schools to show that spread isn’t occurring within their buildings.

Kuehn says if members of the public can follow through with the mandates, schools will be able to resume as normal as possible come December 15th.

Kuehn says a special meeting was cancelled after Burgum made the mandate announcement. He added that he encouraged parents and children to wear a mask as diligently as being asked and see where that leaves them in December.

All K-12 students, teachers, and staff will be wearing masks. Kuehn pointed out they are allowing for planned “mask breaks” throughout the day.

Kuehn says all things considered, they believe they’re having a great school year and have made it further in face-to-face learning more than many would have believed. He added they continue to desire having students and staff in the schools and would love the community’s cooperation.
