Jamestown, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The top ranked class B team in the state, Linton-HMB downed ninth ranked Carrington 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-18) at Neuman Arena to capture the Region 3 girls volleyball title and a trip to Fargo for the 2020 state girls volleyball tournament at the Fargodome next week. The undefeated Lions (22-0), held Carrington’s top hitter’s at bay throughout the match and recorded 12 service aces  to aid the victory.

Jaycee Richbter (5’6 junior OH) paced the Lions balanced offensive attack with a match high 9 kills and 7 service aces. Richter added 20 digs defensively. Teegan Scherr (5’6 junior OH), added 8 kills, 2 aces, and 16 digs. Shaylee Bosch (5’9 so phomore MH) and Kim Gefroh (5’8 junior OH) added 7 kills each. The lone senior starter, Emily Kelsch (5’8 MH) added 6 kills. Gracie Schumacher (5’4 sophomore setter) had a match high 33 assists and added 2 aces. Callie Hase (5’5 junior libero) had a match high 25 digs.

Carrington middle blocker Sydnie Grager (6′ junior) had a team high 8 kills and a match high 4 stuff blocks and senior Hannah Hagel added 6 kills and 3 stuff blocks. The Cardinals wrapped up the season with a 15-5 overall record.

Jaime Richter was selected the 2020 coach of the year in Region 3 and Sadie Hansen of Oakes was awarded the senior athlete of the year. Linton will start state tournament play next week in Fargo on Thursday, November 19th.
