VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City’s Avery Murray has decided to continue her education and athletic career at Northern State University.

The senior cross country and track and field athlete made it official Friday when she signed her letter to attend the Aberdeen, South Dakota school at a ceremony with her mom and dad sitting beside her.

Murray says it is good to have this decision done.

 

Murray says here familiarity with Northern State was a big reason why she chose the NCAA Division II school.

Murray has posted times of 20:20.60 in the 5000m, 12:21.75 in the 3200m and 5:29.19 in the 1600m. Murray says she will continue all those in college.

Her favorite?

Murray was Co-Most Valuable Runner with Greta Goven on this year’s Hi-Liner Cross Country Team. She qualified for state in the 1600m in 2019 as a junior. Avery is the daughter of Buff and Karen Murray of Valley City.
