Fargo, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Lisbon Broncos Football team made their first appearance at the Dakota Bowl since 2007 Friday morning at the FargoDome.  The Broncos were hoping to claim the 2020 Class A Football Championship against last years champion Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich.  The Cardinals were the team that ended the Broncos undefeated season a year ago in the semi-finals in Langdon 50 to 0.

It was a different game this year with the Broncos losing 42 to 28.  The Broncos jumped out to an early 12 to 0 lead in the first quarter after a short Jordan Sours TD run on the Broncos first drive.  About 2 minutes later the Broncos got another TD on a Robert Adam interception that was returned for a TD on the Cardinals first possession.  The only blemish the Broncos had in the first quarter is they failed on both 2pt. attempts.  The two teams traded TD’s in the 2nd quarter bringing the score to 20 to 8 Lisbon with 3:58 remaining in the half.  The Cardinals took over the game from there scoring the next 34 points.

With the loss the Broncos finish 2nd in the state with a 9 and 1 record.  Looking ahead Lisbon will be looking to fill some big shoes in 2021 as the team will lose 10 seniors from this years team:

#1 Avery Dick, #2 Jordan Sours, #7 Kolby Rasmusson, #8 Simon Sveum, #12 Hunter Schultz, #44 Luke Dollizon, #52 Jaden Schmidt, #55 Robert Adam, #58 Troy Jorgensen, #62 Granger Dick.  (pictured above)
