LINTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The number one rated Lions of Linton/Hazelton/Moffit/Braddock pulled out a 3-0 victory over the number five rated Tornadoes of Oakes on Thursday night (30-28, 28-26, 25-22) in the Region 3 volleyball semifinal round. LHMB stays perfect at 21-0 overall, Oakes ends their season at 17-3 overall.
After dropping the first set, the Tornadoes fought in the second set to try and tie the match at a set a piece tying the score nine times, but the Lions were to tough and held on for the 28-26 victory. The Tornadoes were down at one point 11-5 in set three, but fought back to tie at 20 and 22, but again the Lions pulled away for the match win.
Linton/HMB, the District 6 champs, will now play the District 5 champs, the Carrington Cardinals on Saturday at the University of Jamestown. KDAK the Cardinal will have the coverage starting about 11:30am, first serve at noon for the Region 3 championship. The winner will advance to the State B tourney at the FargoDome, November 19th-21st.
