JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The state has given Stutsman County permission to use money left over from road projects for a 2021 project near Medina.

Commissioner Dave Schwartz reports that money leftover wasn’t used because some counties didn’t have the necessary matching funds. Because of this, Schwartz says they were approved to use the funding with matching funds.

Schwartz stated he would like the county to consider a contract with Interstate Engineering to conduct design, engineering, and testing for the project.

The scope of the project would be County Road 39 with a hot bituminous pavement overlay on approximately 2.5 miles of roadway.

An alternate project was also considered. The contract with Interstate Engineering was approved unanimously.

In other county news, Stutsman County will receive another 5 months of CARES Act Funding. Interim Auditor Jessica Alonge says they have submitted the September & October law enforcement payroll. She says they’ll submit November and December later this year.

Alonge says they also had opportunity to apply for CTCL grants to help pay for additional COVID-19 expenses for the elections.

The county unanimously approved to accept the grant funding. The county also nominated Commissioner Dennis Ova to be part of the canvassing board, which meets Monday, November 8th to count the ballots.
