ELLENDALE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Ellendale Cardinals will advance to the 2020 Region 3 Volleyball tournament as they defeat the Rebels of Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier Monday night 3-1 in the District 5 region qualifying match (25-16, 25-22, 15-25, 25-12). Ellendale improves to 6-11 overall, EKM ends their season at 2-15 overall.

Ellendale won the first set and in the second set they had to come from behind to get the victory. Down at one point 17-12, the Cardinals came back to tie set two at 20 and 22, and scored the last three points of the set to go up 2-0. EKM controlled most the the third set and in the fourth, Ellendale jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and never looked back.

Ellendale will be the four seed from District 5 and will travel to either Linton/HMB or South Border on Tuesday, November 10th for the first round of the Region 3 tournament. The region tourney will continue on Thursday the 12th and Saturday the 14th, with the higher seed hosting. If like seed play, then the University of Jamestown court will be utilized.
