JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown approved temporary emergency measures to help lessen the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Mayor Dwaine Heinrich stated that when they first issued the emergency measures, COVID-19 numbers were on the rise in the community.

Councilmember Dan Buchanan agreed the temporary emergency measures were warranted, but stated they didn’t go far enough.

Buchanan added that he couldn’t support the emergency measures as presented.

Councilmember Dave Steele pointed out that the council should move forward with the emergency measures as is. He added they could always address the measures at a later date to either add or subtract from them.

Councilmember David Schloegel added to that.

The council approved the emergency measures to remain in effect for the duration of the emergency and may be further extended or earlier terminated as needed. Councilmember Buchanan voted in opposition.
