Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The Carrington Cardinal’s volleyball team, playing as a full unit for the first time in a month rolled past Edgely-Kulm-Montpelier (EKM) Rebels 3-0 (25-6, 25-9, 25-7) in the opening round of the District 5 girls volleyball tournament.

The Cardinals had several players spark the offense including 5’11 senior Hannah Hagel, pacing the Cards with a match high 14 kills and adding 12 digs. Sydnie Grage (6′ junior middle hitter) added 10 kills. Senior setter Tessa Page had a match high 25 assists and added a team high 17 digs. Breanna Mittleider (senior libero), had a match high 6 service aces and added 15 digs. Lexus Page added 7 kills and Haley Wolsky added 6 kills.

EKM was paced by Emily Kinzler and Grace Irey with 3 kills each. Macy Boyer had a match high 39 digs for EKM and Reagan Teske added 25 digs for the Rebels. The Rebels dropped to 1-14 overall on the season and will travel to sixth seeded Barnes County North Friday night (October 30th) in an elimination game. Carrington improved to 11-4 overall and will host number 3 seed LaMoure-Litchville-Marion on Friday night in the semifinal round of the District 5 tournament.
