JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Fire Department has requested replacement extrication tools after their 23 year-old equipment failed.

Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther informed the Fire & Police Committee that the equipment failed while they were conducting training.

Reuther says in searching for some replacement parts, it was found that there were deeper issues in the equipment.

Instead of costly repairs for the obsolete equipment, Reuther was asked to collect bids for the replacement of the extrication tools.

Bids for the tools landed between $27,000 and $28,000.

The committee moved to discuss the bids and equipment replacement at their November committee meeting.

In other Jamestown Fire Department information, Reuther says they were looking to partner with the Rural Fire Department for future service in the city and county.

Reuther stated that partnering with the Rural Service could bring a better service to the city and county.
