MANDAN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Mandan Braves scored the first five touchdowns of the contest and a fied goal to defeat the Blue Jays of Jamestown in Class AAA WDA football Saturday night 38-7. With the win, the Braves improve to 4-3 in the conference and 4-3 overall, the Jays drop to 3-3 in the conference and 4-3 overall.

The Blue Jays scored their first and only touchdown of the game with about two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter when starting QB Payton Hochhalter connected with Brode Hillstrom for a touchdown. Senior QB Jayce Lowman for Mandan threw for two touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns. Not quite 90 seconds into the contest, Mandan’s James Barnhardt scored the first touchdown of the game. Junior Sarah Burgum kicked five extra points and a field goal.

Next up for RV Jamestown will be on Friday night, October 30th for the Class AAA quarterfinal playoffs, the Jays will be the four seed from the west and they will travel to the number one seed from the east, West Fargo Sheyenne. Pregame about 645pm on James 107 and newsdakota.com, kickoff at 7pm.
